What are the must-have items for Spring?

My collection this season was all about the gracefulness of a dancer... Definitely a slinky jersey dress, a cashmere slide sweater and lace-up pumps.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to get into the fashion industry?

Stay curious, never stop paying attention – you never know where your next idea is going to come from. I think the best training for a designer is to work in a retail environment. It's a one-stop resource for how to make, market and sell clothing. You get to be hands-on with customers – seeing what works on the body is the most amazing training.

Who is the most stylish woman you know and why?

I know this is cheesy, but I would have to say my mother. She's been a big influence in my life and on my sense of style. She has always had a signature look, she knows what is going on in fashion and knows how to edit and that is very 'Michael Kors.'

What do you think is a classic item that every woman needs to have in her wardrobe?

A perfect cashmere sweater. In fact, you can't have enough of them! Turtlenecks, v-necks or cardigans – they work with jeans, shorts and pencil skirts – no matter if they are four-ply or the newest, most delicate whisper weight. And in our air-conditioned world, cashmere is now practically year-round.
