New Year, New Me -- however, this year I am on a strict budget but would like to add a few new pieces to my wardrobe to liven it up a bit. How do you suggest that I update my look without going overboard financially?

Buy the best quality of whatever it is that your budget will allow. I am always a fan of the classics -- the little black dress, cashmere pullovers, a great trench, pumps, & pencil skirts -- these looks are timeless. So, I say to invest in the classics at the highest quality you can afford and you will weather this fashion storm and recession in style.

I am new to purchasing "high" fashion or designer apparel. This past Fall I bought one of your Fall 08 Runway looks. Can I wear it again? Is it considered a fashion taboo to wear designer outfits seasons after they debut?

YES, you may definitely wear the look again. I design my clothes not with the "one wear" mentality -- they are meant to be worn and loved. I think that the "greenest" thing we fashion folk can do is invest in quality clothes and stop buying disposable fashions that we toss away after 2 outings. When I go into vintage stores looking for pieces from past collections, I can never find them. When I ask why, the proprietors always tell me that my clothes are timeless so that women hold on to them and cherish them. That is the best compliment that a designer can get. So, YES, wear it again and again but try to change up your accessories each time to give the look fresh appeal.
